A 52-part video series produced for UN ESCAP, is available in 10 packages of 5-minute pieces on the "Right to Development." Themes include Civil and Political Rights, Older Persons, Gender, Rural Development, Urban Development, Social Participation, Economic Development and Environment.

AAAS Environment and Human Rights Project

African Decade for Person with Disabilities
The African Decade for Person with Disabilities (1999-2009) was proclaimed by the African Union Assembly of Heads of State in July 1999. The formal declaration was subsequently adopted by the Assembly of Heads of State and Government in Togo, July 2000. The Continental Plan of Action of the African Decade is designed at implementing priority activities on disability during the African Decade of Persons with Disabilities (1999-2009). The aim of the African Decade Continental Action Plan is to provide guidance to Governments, African Rehabilitation Institute (ARI), The Secretariat of the African Decade, Disabled Persons Organizations and civil society in furthering the goals of full participation, equality and empowerment of people with disabilities in Africa.

APT Legal Reference Service
The APT Legal Reference Service is a unique and comprehensive online database of international, regional and (to a lesser extent) national documentation related to the prevention of torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. It contains more than 2000 resolutions, conventions, case law and documentation on the issue.

CIMEL and INTERIGHTS' ‘Honour Crimes’ Project
The ‘Honour Crimes’ Project is jointly co-ordinated by CIMEL (Centre of Islamic and Middle Eastern Laws) at the School of Oriental and African Studies, London University and INTERIGHTS (International Centre for the Legal Protection of Human Rights). The project is an action-oriented collaborative research project on Strategies to Address ‘Crimes of Honour’ initiated in 1999 and co-directed by Lynn Welchman, Director, CIMEL, and Sara Hossain, Legal Officer (South Asia), INTERIGHTS. Globally, the Project seeks to facilitate co-operation among activists, lawyers, academics and others and to develop and deepen understanding, explore theoretical frameworks and build upon diverse and multiple strategies, nationally, regionally and internationally, to combat impunity for those responsible for ‘honour’ crimes and to challenge the climate of support for the practice amongst state institutions.

Fact Sheet on Minority Rights
This site summarizes the procedures and activities, principally of the UN, in the field of minority protection. It provides an overview of the non-discrimination clauses and the special rights contained in international human rights instruments and describes the mechanisms that have been established to monitor compliance with minority rights standards. It also provides an analysis of the complaints procedures available, the early warning mechanisms which have been established to prevent conflict, and the role of non-governmental organizations in protecting and promoting the rights of persons belonging to minorities.

Human Rights Connection (HRC)

The Digital Freedom Network, Forefront and the Center for the Study of Human Rights at Columbia University have partnered to coordinate Human Rights Connection (HRC) at http://www.hrconnection.org, a web-based community resource center that provides human rights activists with a place to read and post "how to" information, articles and case studies on a wide range of issues, such as working with the media, planning an advocacy campaign, establishing an organization, and using technology. Material on other topics, such as managing a Board of Directors, fund raising and financial management for human rights, accountability and coping in face of danger will be posted in the future.

Human Rights Impact Assessment Resource Centre
The Human Rights Impact Resource Centre (HRIRC) is an online database which brings together a wide range of information and documentation on the subject Human Rights Impact Assessment (HRIA). Measuring human rights has become an issue of growing interest to policy makers, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and academics. There is a growing amount of information and documentation available on the subject, which is often dispersed and difficult to find. The HRIRC aims to fill this gap by providing a platform to bring together, share and disseminate all sorts of information on HRIA.

LGBT Organizations Database
Funders for Lesbian and Gay Issues has released the first online, searchable database of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender organizations and projects nationwide. The database lists over 650 nonprofit organizations that support lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people and issues, and serves as a resource for funders, donors and nonprofit organizations. The Database includes only organizations or projects within the 50 United States which have received at least one grant from a foundation and is searchable by state, populations served and issue areas.

National Plans of Action for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights
In the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action, adopted in June 1993, the World Conference on Human Rights recommended to States to consider the desirability of drawing up a national action plan identifying steps whereby States would improve the promotion and protection of human rights. National Plans can be accessed on this site.

Universal Human Rights Index
Developed by the Institute of Public Law of the University of Bern, Switzerland and Professor Walter Kälin, the Universal Human Rights Index is designed to facilitate access to human rights documents issued by the UN human rights treaty bodies and the special procedures of the Human Rights Council. The Index is a new tool for searching the observations and recommendations of these expert bodies.

WHO Database on health and human rights actors
This database contains information gathered from a 65 question survey of organizations concerning their organizational structures and programs. The intention of the database is to facilitate efforts of WHO to utilize existing institutional expertise in the area of health and human rights through collaboration and information-sharing. It is a joint effort between the World Health Organization and the Program for International Health and Human Rights of the François-Xavier Bagnoud Centre for Health and Human Rights at the Harvard School of Public Health.
