Get Off Your Assets!

Foundations are significant owners of corporations. The Get Off Your Assets (GOYA) Committee assists them to have a voice on human rights and related issues by voting on shareholder resolutions filed with the companies they own. Unless the foundation’s money managers are instructed as to how to vote on a particular resolution they usually vote with the management of the company which is often contrary to the program interests of the human rights funder. GOYA will provide information on corporate human rights issues and the process of shareholder resolutions and proxy voting. GOYA will also suggest ways of addressing the issue of proxy voting within the foundation.
